Why this order

Two people rarely see exactly the same thing in a work. Carry that difference out of the museum, into small shops and over dinner. The West District lets the conversation walk with you.

Your afternoon and evening

14:30–16:00 art; 16:15–17:15 shops; 17:30–18:45 dinner; 19:00 greenway. About five hours within one part of town.

Take a bus to NTMoFA or Dadun Cultural Centre; return to the railway station by bus or taxi from the West District.

  1. Stop 1

    National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts

    Arrive at 14:30 and choose one or two current exhibitions. General entry is free; closes 17:00 Tuesday–Friday and 18:00 weekends; closed Monday. The lead photograph shows the museum’s Hell Realm room; use the museum calendar for the current programme.

    Wuquan West Road at Meicun Road, by bus to the museum or Dadun Cultural Centre

  2. Stop 2

    Shenji New Village: small shops in old dormitories

    Walk — About 700 m from NTMoFA; allow 12–15 minutes.

    Browse the old dormitories around 16:15. Pick an object you would not normally choose. Buying is optional; tenant hours vary and weekend markets are not daily.

  3. Stop 3

    Meicun Road and Calligraphy Greenway: dinner, then a walk

    Walk — About 800 m from Shenji to the greenway; allow 15 minutes walking, with dinner along the way.

    At 17:30, choose a seated restaurant around Meicun and Xiangshang Roads and check the menu before settling on a budget. Walk towards the greenway afterwards, leaving half an hour for a stroll and dessert. The outdoor walk is free; food follows each menu.
