Why this order
Find a house made from a character, words from a medicine cabinet and waves that have become a giant garment. Three museum works meet three new commissions in the same exhibition. Stay longer with whichever catches your eye. Adults can play too.
Plan it
文字跑進作品裡了! runs through August 29, 2027, in the B1 Educational Exhibition Space at Taiwan Children's Art Cave. Admission is free, with no reservation. Our suggested one-to-two-hour visit leaves time for the activity sheet and the lettering and making tables.
The museum is at 2 Wuquan West Road, Section 1, West District. From Taichung TRA station, take bus 11 or 75 toward the museum or Dadun Cultural Centre; the museum estimates about fifteen minutes on the bus. From the Meicun Road museum stop, allow seven minutes for the roughly 400-metre walk, then use the lift to B1.
Stop 1
Find the house made from a character
National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts
Song Joo Yean turns the oracle-bone character for a room into a house, responding to Lu Fo-ting's painting. Explore its shell-inlay and lacquer panels, then look for the character-dog nearby.

Stop 2
Look for words from a grandfather's medicine cabinet
National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts
Hu Qiren's 記憶的紋理 uses rubbings from his grandfather's medicine drawers. Compare it with Shiy De-jinn's 風景: an orange square covers half a black character. How much of a word do you need to recognise it?

Stop 3
Finish with the giant garment
National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts
Lee Jiun-shyan's 消高應 brings wild waves into painting through Taigi. Komiya Yukina responds with the huge embroidered garment 風咬海. Look for joined characters from different languages, and gently feel the furry wall where the instructions allow.
