Look up at the drying plants, then down at the jars: the room keeps the traces of lives spent together.
Bundles of plants hang from the ceiling. Glass jars run along the windows and walls; nets gather beside glazed pots. HSU Yi-tzu's Nourishing Love fills Balin Workstation with things that invite a closer look. Even in the photographs, I want to know what each jar holds.
The materials come from her residency in Balin: fieldwork, cultivation, writing, and time spent eating and working with others. Salting, drying and storing give those encounters a form that can remain in a room. Look at the contents, then think about the hands that grew, gathered and prepared them.
The installation is part of the 2026 Mattauw Earth Triennial, at Balin Workstation in Guantian, Tainan. Balin railway station is about two minutes away on foot, making this an easy stop on a rail trip. Visit Wednesday–Sunday, 09:00–17:00, through December 6; closed Monday and Tuesday.
The artist occasionally holds separate food pop-ups, announced by the artist and organiser. For an ordinary exhibition visit, leave time for the plants and jars, and make your lunch plans separately.
