Choose a handmade bowl, then a concert or film, and spend an afternoon with the makers.
The market poster gathers bowls, plates and cups into a ring, with a cat and rabbit squeezing in. Haotao brings pottery, handcraft and outdoor music to CKS Memorial Hall on October 16–18. One maker to look for is Little Local, whose wooden characters have plant-filled heads and mismatched hardware eyes.
Saturday: handmade objects, then choose your soundtrack
Start browsing at noon on October 17. At the Freedom Forest stall, look through the illustrated book 民主大冒險 and bring your journal or paper for the limited-edition stamp. At 14:30, choose between Liu Huan-yin’s outdoor guitar set and the PTS/NHK 8K Alishan railway film in the performance hall. These start together; pick one instead of racing between them. Huang Lin plays harp outdoors at 16:00. The 16:30 film also overlaps that set.
Friday and Sunday alternatives
Friday, October 16, has the Freedom Forest stall too, with Annier on ukulele at 14:30–15:30 and Huang Jie on accordion at 16:00–17:00. Sunday brings Liu Yun-ping’s guitar at 14:30–15:30, then Lin Yan-chen on accordion with Mao Min-hsuan on oboe at 16:00–17:00. Freedom Forest operates Friday and Saturday only; do not plan Sunday around that stall.
The railway film screens on Saturday at 10:30, 14:30 and 16:30, and Sunday at 14:30 and 16:30. A Saturday morning screening can come before the noon market opening. Keep the hall’s sessions separate from the outdoor market hours. Before leaving, take another look at the bowl you have been thinking about all afternoon.
Get there
Public transport
Use Exit 3 or 5 at CKS Memorial Hall MRT, then head toward Daxiao Gate and the rear/Hangzhou South Road side. About 240 m to the campus landmark; allow 5–10 minutes to find the stalls. Films are separately inside the performance hall.
