Xindian · Selected object and physical-improvisation workshop

Mingu workshop at Jing-Mei

A stool, papers and an outstretched hand offer a way into Mingu’s object-led physical experiment at the Human Rights Arts Festival on November 14.

Green shutters open around a window. Papers rest on a wooden stool while a person reaches towards scattered objects; a blue door stands beyond the iron bars.

Make temporary arrangements with objects and find out how they change your movements.

In the programme photograph, a wooden stool stands on a windowsill between open green shutters. Papers sit on top; a person reaches towards the objects beside it.

Let the objects move you

Mingu, the Prague-based duo of Mara Ingea and En-Ping Yu, works with object theatre, devised performance and installation. For this Human Rights Arts Festival workshop, participants will build temporary arrangements from everyday objects and try guided physical improvisation. You need no performance experience. The experiment asks how the things around us shape our habits and choices when we treat them as collaborators.

The two-hour session takes place at the Human Rights Learning Centre inside Jing-Mei White Terror Memorial Park. It is a selected workshop for ages fifteen and over, with twenty places and ten reserves. Applications run September 29–October 13; results are announced October 20 by email. Accepted participants must pay the NT$500 deposit by October 30. The workshop itself is free.
