A small room that shows one exhibition at a time, slow enough to look closely and ask about the work.
In the exhibition image for Lee Shih-Hwa's 14453, a pale lavender and green body lifts its head beneath a horn. Butterfly wings rise behind it; small bumps cover the surface, and gold fastenings bridge a seam. Several creatures seem to share one body.
Lee took the title from her count of 14,453 days lived. In her exhibition statement, Lee describes becoming different people, creatures and scenes in dreams, changing and choosing again. The solo exhibition runs at Soil Space from October 24 to November 29.
The gallery is on the third floor at 56, Lane 64, Minquan Road Section 2. Visit Friday–Tuesday, 11:00–19:00; it closes Wednesday and Thursday. The opening is October 24 at 15:00. From Tainan Station's front side, allow fifteen minutes for the roughly 900-metre walk, then head upstairs.
