West Central District, Tainan · Sunken public water plaza

The Spring

The pool left where the China-Town mall came down: a place to put your feet in by day, an exhibition space after dark.

At night on the Kangle Street side, a painter works high on a large dragon form, its green scales edged in fluorescent line; paint cups, a folding table and a light box stand on the ground below.

From September 1 to November 1, 2026, LONG FLOW TAINAN 攏 Hô 樂 lays seven works along the entrance, the bridge underside, and the B1 water. Doors at 17:30.

The Spring opened in 2020 on the footprint of the demolished China-Town mall. Before that the New Canal ran through here, carrying boats and goods into Tainan. The plaza is sunk below street level around a shallow pool, with steps and a bridge on either side; people sit at the edge and children walk in the water.

Haian Road runs alongside, and Zhengxing Street and Shennong Street are both within walking distance. During the exhibition, enter from the Kangle Street side and take your shoes off before the water.

The organizer's illustrated map of The Spring, marking two works around the upper Kangle Street entrance, five more through the B1 water and under the bridge, and the talk, workshop, reading, shop, mobility-entrance and toilet locations.
