The building is the reason to come: light-cut windows, a corridor that blurs inside and out, and the sound of the hills. From September 1 to 13, Crippled Symmetries makes it the subject outright.

The museum sits in Pinglin, Caotun, not far from the Jiujiu Peak forest trail: board-marked concrete and glass, galleries at a scale you can finish without hurrying. For ten years it has built its programme around figurative art while living alongside the farmland and houses around it.

Admission is free, visits are by reservation, and the museum keeps numbers deliberately low. That makes for a quiet visit, but it also means you cannot simply drive up. Thursdays close early at 15:00, and Mondays and national holidays are closed. Wheelchairs, accessible routes, and lifts are available.

Get there

Public transport

From Taichung HSR, take Nantou Bus 6670 towards Puli and Sun Moon Lake, get off at Pinglin, then walk about 20 minutes. Drivers can use the East Caotun interchange on National Freeway 6; the museum has car and coach parking. Admission is free, but every visit must be booked on the museum's site before travelling.
