See how community votes and machine surprises shape an artist's work.
A pink chicken is wedged into a shopping cart, holding a balloon string in its beak. On the exhibition poster, it looks ready either to abandon the cart or take the whole thing up with it.
The Artist Is Typing brings work from across Botto's practice since 2021 to outdoor LED screens at Huashan's main entrance, by Chun Shui Tang and the Bluebird bookshop.
Botto generates images and a community votes on them; those choices help shape what it makes next. In a curatorial text developed with Botto, Eleonora Brizi raises a problem: when a community rewards the mistakes it loves, can an unexpected image stay unexpected?
