Wooden people, a very large hand

The photograph first looks like a small gathering. Then the hand across the table changes the scale. A man is perched above it with his knees pulled to his chest; below, another props up his head. Faces, clothing and the broad hand keep the marks of carving.

MOOFOO brings furniture and wood sculpture together. Furniture designer 郭家宏 and wood sculptor 李明勳 founded the practice in 2020 and moved their workshop to Daxi. In their O Stool, the opening in the seat is a handhold; its rounded edge was revised through everyday use. The Chiayi display puts a stool and its separate parts beside a carved figure.

The duo is one of ten maker teams in Wood Life at Chiayi's Experimental Wood Workshop. The south building introduces the creators through their stories and work; the north building is a shop for wooden objects and furniture accessories. Finding a maker here can continue into buying something to live with.
