Headlines that need your knees

Cho Wei's ceramic chains put online language on the floor at Yinggo Spot.

By Look Three Small editors · Yingge, New Taipei, October 9, 2026

Rough brown ceramic chain links, their surfaces stamped with small text, loop together in heaps on a white floor, casting shadows.

Online headlines stamped into ceramic chains; the venue invites visitors to crouch for a closer read.

The chain links lie in heaps on a white floor. Their rough brown surfaces carry stamped Chinese, English and Korean. Cho Wei took these fragments from online news, content-farm headlines and claims found to be false. The work is 鏈結—同溫層 (2025).

Yinggo Spot's close-up photographs reward looking at the surface; the venue invites visitors to crouch down to read it. I like the interruption. A headline usually hurries you toward the next one. Here, even your reading posture needs to change.

See it in Inner Voice: Context, Cho Wei's solo show at the third-floor arts centre. The exhibition is free through November 8, 10:00–19:00, with the first and third Tuesdays of each month closed. Make it a stop during a walk through Yingge's pottery streets.

In the foreground, stamped lines of text are legible on rough ceramic chain links; more chains wind across the floor behind.
