Wildflowers dictate the lettering. Please keep the coffee human-sized.
Orange flowers balance on thin blue stems, with yellow-green leaves sprawling beneath them. Even the exhibition dates have to climb along a branch. One look at cincin chang’s poster tells you who’s in charge: before putting any lettering down, ask the wildflowers what mood they’re in.
The flowers lead into Palette Café & Art in Ji’an, Hualien. There are two series in immensely. One opens up space through large sheets of paper; the other shrinks the self until a little patch of grass becomes a jungle. Even her name stays lowercase, cincin. Make yourself small enough and the creative universe has more freedom to spare. The weeds you normally step past have suddenly acquired star billing.
Palette roasts its own beans, plays jazz vinyl and makes sweets, including a wreath-shaped cinnamon roll that already sounds rather celestial. Sitting here with the art, imagining yourself as a small insect, seems entirely reasonable. But please leave the coffee human-sized. We mortals require our normal dose of caffeine.
September 9 update: Good news from Palette: immensely has been extended to September 21, 2026! September 10 on the poster was the original closing date; these free-roaming wildflowers have decided to stay eleven extra days. You can take your time planning—no sprint required. Café hours are 10:30–17:00, with September days off on 2, 8, 13, 14, 22, 28 and 29. Check your date before following the smell of coffee to a closed door.

September 19: make your own paper flowers
The wildflowers have an evening appointment too. On Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 19:00, cincin leads the fourth workshop connected to immensely at Palette Café & Art in Ji’an: paper-flower collage. Spend 1.5–2 hours cutting and sticking coloured paper into your own A5 floral masterpiece. Absolutely no drawing experience required. NT$850 covers materials and one drink; your job is to bring scissors and a glue stick—yes, the two things that summon your primary-school art class. Teaching is mainly in Mandarin, with English very welcome. Message @palette.cafe_andart to sign up. This is a special evening session, separate from the café’s usual 10:30–17:00 hours. Please don’t march in during the day and demand arts and crafts from the manager.
