In Taichung, even the door is in the comic

NANO HERO's painted door panels lead into the National Taiwan Museum of Comics, where exhibitions occupy the former prison staff's buildings.

Look Three Small · October 19, 2026 · Taichung

Two wooden door panels painted gold carry several distorted, goggle-wearing Toby figures and hand-painted English text. Paint bottles and brushes sit on the floor in front.

Follow a comic off the page, then explore the museum's old buildings.

On one side of NANO HERO's door panels, Toby splits and multiplies against a gold ground. The reverse carries an EXIT sign and a little framed face.

The Toby King artist made this double-sided work, We share the same sun, during his 2026 on-site creation at the museum. His OBJECTS series includes doors and windows whose thickness, position and history are part of the artwork. A lion window,《獅子窗戶》, made in 2019 for a Kaohsiung space with roughly twenty layers of paint and epoxy resin, later moved whole to the museum's service centre in Taichung.

The museum's East Side Park occupies the former Taichung prison staff quarters around Linsen Road. Walk between the old buildings for comics exhibitions and reading spaces. The former staff bathhouse now hosts a comics-bathing exhibition, combining Taiwanese comics with the building's bathing history.

The reverse of the two panels is painted dark grey, with a white EXIT arrow on the left and a small painted portrait of Toby on the right. Brushes and paint bottles sit below.
