Two cats, a letter, ten years

Fangan went to Taipei's animal shelter looking for an orange cat. She came home with a cat other visitors had rejected as fierce. Ten years later, their shared days have become the subject of Love Notes from Cats, her illustration exhibition in Hsinchu.

On the poster, two cats rise from an open envelope. Around them are toys, a medicine bottle, capsules and a scooter rider. The artist writes about cats beside her computer, returning home to them, and the hospital trips, medicine and feeding that enter life as they grow old.

The host recently described two young visitors asking whether the cats were real, what illness they had and how they were now. Their mother watched as the conversation continued.
