A room held in soap
At Good Underground in Hualien, 青婕 builds a room for someone who has gone. 梁佳欣 follows her father back to Hong Kong and China, unsure whether she too is returning.

A room built from soap, beside a daughter’s uncertain homecoming.
A kitchen stretches across the gallery wall in rows of honey-coloured blocks. The image breaks into loose pieces around its edges; small pictures sit apart on the adjoining wall. Soap is an odd building material for something you want to keep.
青婕 uses it in 我們在反潮的房間裡等海變小. She describes making a small room for someone who has gone, continuing their life together through recollection and rebuilding. Each attempt shifts the memory a little.
梁佳欣's 複視的風景 begins with journeys alongside her father to see family and revisit places in Hong Kong and China. When relatives welcome her in Cantonese with 返嚟, meaning come back, she finds herself between relative and tourist. Is she returning, or arriving?

From Hualien Station's front side, allow 30 minutes for the 2.0 km walk. From Hualien Cultural and Creative Industries Park, allow ten minutes for about 500 metres. Find No. 37 on Jieyue Street and go down to B1.
