Meet Black Jelly Club's little black animals at Lim Yesool's first Taiwan solo show in Taichung.

In Lim Yesool's published portfolio, a black animal rides a bright comet above a fishbowl. Inside, planets drift among fish and stars; another small creature has made a ringed planet its bed. The picture is called Aquarium of Universes.

The South Korean artist built her creative brand, Black Jelly Club, around her cat Puma. In her Taipei Illustration Fair introduction, she asks whether a being that comforts us can also feel lonely. Her black-furred cats, rabbits, dogs and bears travel through forests, underwater places and star-filled worlds. They have room to sleep there.

Her first solo exhibition in Taiwan, Where The Star Rest / 屋裡的流星, opens at Ming Art Space on Saturday, October 17. In the artist's exhibition image, a pale figure holds the sleeping animals while a flying saucer hovers beside them.

A blue exhibition poster on a wall shows a pale figure holding small black animals. A black cat appears at the lower left and a flying saucer with green passengers floats at the right.
