Traveller, your baggage is seriously overweight
Sanyi's 3.5-metre green traveller uses people as a scale bar; the character for beauty has grown into a beast.

Follow the woodcarving streets to the museum, and leave time to look up.
A green figure is carrying another green body overhead, its blue-tipped limbs reaching wildly towards the ceiling. The people at the opening provide a rather cruel scale bar. Nyubo Abe's《旅人-往返的身體》stands 3.5 metres tall. Take this traveller to an airport and no amount of extra-baggage credit is getting it aboard.
It is currently at Sanyi Wood Sculpture Museum in the 2026 international exhibition《空杯活水》, through October 18. That startling green smashes the traditional woodcarving filter and switches to an alien frequency: yellow strands hang below, arms spread wide, and the blue tips drag your eye upwards again.
Curator 張富峻 has brought together 73 works by 40 artists from Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, the United Kingdom and Singapore. Alongside the green giant, Chen Yi-Lang's《文字獸(美)》makes the character 美—beauty—into a three-dimensional creature. In 石佳蕙's《煙硝後的呻吟》, the wounds of war grow a strange animal body.
