Three bookshops, one dinner table
The shelves and the kitchen at Luodong's Book Forest each have their own way of introducing Yilan.

A timber house run by three Yilan bookshops, with 小間書菜's food beside the shelves.
In the photograph from Book Forest's opening, a boy in a blue hat is concentrating on his bowl. Behind him is a table full of food, adults waiting with plates, and pendant lamps that look as though several households donated one apiece. The books are right there. They have formidable competition today.
On June 7, 2025, 舊書櫃二手書店, 小間書菜 and 旅人書店 joined forces to open Book Forest on the north side of Luodong Forestry Culture Garden. The shelves hold Taiwan's forests, stories from Yilan, literature and children's books. 小間書菜 turns crops from Dongshan, Wujie and Sanxing into meals in the same timber house.
In the opening photographs, people eating are almost within arm's reach of the shelves. Anyone who has ever had to abandon a book because they were desperately hungry will appreciate this arrangement.
Reserve for food; wander in for books. Call ahead for lunch or dinner. The next autumn market is September 19–20, 2026, 10:00–17:00, between Zhulin Station and the log pond. Saturday can belong to books, lunch and whatever catches your eye on the stalls, all within the old forestry grounds.
