One cinema ticket for bread-making, hero fantasy and grief at an astronomical institute.
In the still from I Knead You, two hands cradle a face marked with brown patches. Warm light meets a blue background. The synopsis supplies the strange ingredient: a heartbroken baking apprentice makes a life-sized bread lover. The tenderness has me thinking about the signs that tell customers not to squeeze the bread.
Jack Hsu's I Knead You shares the programme with Wang Yan-ping's Bagel GO, a fantasy about becoming a hero for someone you love, and Chien Li-ying's This Very Second, about a grieving partner working at an astronomical institute. The three Taiwanese queer shorts make one 84-minute programme.
Arrive 15–30 minutes before your screening. The October 17 session is marked for a filmmaker appearance; the other two are evening screenings. October 26 is a confirmed Monday festival session, despite the centre's usual Monday closure.
