The cracks grow wool at Gimgoanheng

Coloured strands spill down a wall beside an old terrazzo stair. Zeze Chen's Through the Weave occupies the third floor of Tainan's century-old cloth house.

Look Three Small · October 24, 2026 · Tainan

Coloured strands spill from a rough pale wall panel beside smaller textile pieces; a narrow terrazzo stair rises between the works, with long fibre pieces hanging above.

Explore Taiwanese prints downstairs and Chen's fibres and wool upstairs.

In the exhibition's orange-and-turquoise image, fuzzy folds open into little ravines.

Chen begins with tree roots finding gaps, pushing through paving and lifting tiles. She works in textiles, yarn and wool, pulling and winding fibres around those breaks. The costume designer is part of House Peace's Tainan residency; 張靖盈 collaborates on the textile making.

Gimgoanheng was founded in 1923 and now makes Taiwanese print designs. Its blue-and-white slippers, milkfish and mullet roe become patterns for fabric and everyday objects. You can explore those downstairs, then continue up to Chen's work on 3F.

Through the Weave runs October 22–November 22, 2026. The venue gives Wednesday–Sunday, 10:00–18:00; closed Monday and Tuesday. Find it at 3, Lane 209, Zhongzheng Road, Tainan. From Tainan Station's front side, allow 30 minutes for the roughly 1.8 km walk. The exhibition is upstairs, reached by a narrow stair.
