First notice the rabbit riding the bear's head. Then visit the bookstore where paintings are taking shape.

A rabbit has claimed the top of a bear's head. A tiger leans behind another bear; a pig holds a cup. Books lie open beside the teapot, with green hills stretching behind the table. TOKINOIRODORI's Taiwan-specific painting draws on reading and tea in Maokong. I would happily join this table. I could turn the pages.

The one-page picture-book exhibition is inside TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE Xinyi, on the fifth floor of Uni-President Department Store Taipei. The bookstore says the artist is making six paintings at the entrance from October 8 to 17. Seeing acrylic layers accumulate gives this visit a different pace. Daily painting times are not listed; call the store on 02-2725-1881 if meeting the artist is the reason for your trip.

Admission is free through November 9. Take Taipei City Hall MRT Exit 2 into the department store, then the lift to the fifth floor. The store opens 11:00–21:30 Sunday–Thursday and until 22:00 Friday–Saturday; national holidays follow the department store's announcements. Browse the originals, then pick a book. Food and drinks cost extra.
