Free, six minutes from Guting MRT, inside a picture-book shop worth the trip anyway.

At Tongli, a picture book can be an artist’s book, a philosophical argument or a wordless story. This Taipei shop carries picture books, graphic novels, zines and experimental book forms; many imported titles come with Mandarin reading notes.

October brings Chiaos Tseng’s《怪貓誌》, with fourteen Taiwanese cat-and-tiger-spirit tales drawn into a long scroll. The exhibition runs October 3–25.

Find the shop at 15 Chaozhou Street, about six minutes on foot from Guting MRT exit 5. Exit 5 has an escalator; exit 6 has stairs. The shop has no prominent sign. It is open Tuesday–Friday noon–6pm and weekends 11am–6pm, closed Mondays. Check its activity page before visiting: separate talks and workshops can temporarily close the shop.
