Why this order

From brewery warehouses to old railway streets, this walk follows what the city keeps and how it carries on living. See art, browse shops, then choose dinner together. A Hualien evening can stay in town.

Your afternoon and evening

15:30–16:45 park; 17:00–17:45 shops; 18:00–19:30 market. The basic walk is free; specific events may charge, and food is extra.

Allow about ten minutes by taxi from Hualien Station to the park; taxi back after dinner.

  1. Stop 1

    Hualien Cultural and Creative Industries Park

    At 15:30, see the current exhibitions and warehouse architecture. Indoor spaces Tuesday–Sunday 10:00–18:00, closed Monday; grounds open around the clock. Individual buildings have their own programmes and hours. The lead photograph records an earlier craft exhibition.

    Building 19’s Two Thirds runs through December 6; follow the organiser’s visiting hours.

  2. Stop 2

    Old railway streets: shops and reasons to pause

    Walk — About 350 m from the park; allow 5–8 minutes.

    Around 17:00, walk towards Lane 551, Zhongzheng Road and browse open shops. Show each other a small object you like; buying is optional. Shops keep individual hours.

  3. Stop 3

    Dongdamen Night Market: dinner for two appetites

    Walk — About 750 m from the railway streets; allow 12–15 minutes.

    At 18:00, make a lap before buying dinner. Explore the different market sections, including Futing and the Indigenous-food street. Sit down to eat before looking for dessert. Menus and opening times vary by vendor.
