Tainan · Print-design cloth house and art space

Gimgoanheng

Taiwanese daily life in printed fabric, with an art space upstairs.

Coloured strands spill from a rough pale wall panel beside smaller textile pieces; a narrow terrazzo stair rises between the works, with long fibre pieces hanging above.

Taiwanese print designs in a small cloth house founded in 1923, with an exhibition space on 3F.

Gimgoanheng was founded in 1923 and now makes Taiwanese print designs. Its blue-and-white slippers, milkfish and mullet roe become patterns for fabric and everyday objects. Explore those downstairs, then continue up to the art space on 3F.

Orange, turquoise and dark brown fibres form long undulating ridges, with fuzzy surfaces and narrow ravine-like gaps.
