Take the 11:00 bus from Sanyi station and arrive at the museum at 11:08, during the morning carving session. Eight makers work in the plaza for the October 9–11 festival. Look for the change from a rough block to a figure, or the small cuts that make ornament appear.
A suggested morning
About three hours, and these times are our suggestion. Plaza carving runs 10:00–12:00 and 13:30–17:00. Shuimei's festival activities run 11:00–16:30. Workshops and guided walks have their own booking rules; watching and browsing do not require signing up for one. Indoor museum galleries are a separate ticketed visit.
From Sanyi Station, the museum is about 41 minutes on foot, or a short taxi ride using the museum's directions.
Eight carvers work in the plaza. Temple ornament, deity carving, Buddhist themes and rough shaping are different crafts, so move between them. Stay until the session ends at noon. Indoor museum galleries are a separate ticketed visit.

Walk — About 804 metres, 11 minutes, from the museum to Shuimei Art Street. The bus loops through Shengxing and Longteng first, so walking is quicker.
Three generations of carvers work here during the festival, alongside a market. Leave room to wander rather than filling every minute with a booked class. Guided walks and hands-on sessions need separate registration, and places are limited.
