Why this order

Begin with a three-minute film made from factory sounds. Walk into a former sewing-machine shop, where old machines share the room with literary works. Finish by arranging type and pressing ink onto paper. These three Design HUB stops let you hear, read and try different kinds of making near the railway station.

Plan it

For an unhurried afternoon, start at Zhongshan Hall around 13:00 and leave time for the other two stops before last entry at 16:30. All three exhibition areas run daily 10:00–17:00, October 3–18. The two-to-three-hour allowance includes browsing and walking.

Use Taichung's TRA railway station. Walk along Jianguo Road, then turn into Minquan Road toward the historic Prefectural Hall; the organizer gives a ten-to-fifteen-minute approach. From HSR Taichung, transfer to TRA for Taichung station. The last stop is beside the old station, making the return straightforward.

  1. Stop 1

Zhongshan Hall: listen to the factory

At 99 Minquan Road, Symphony of the City turns recorded manufacturing sounds into a multi-channel, three-minute loop. Director Rex Hon and music designer Will Sung move from machine tools to bicycles, aerospace and reducers. Give the screens a whole cycle before heading outside.

  3. Stop 3

Letterpress Workshop: arrange type and print

Walk — Return toward the old railway station. The workshop is inside its cultural park at 1 Taiwan Boulevard, Section 1; use the walking route to find the entrance.

IMPRINTED MEMORIES brings type, printing equipment and a visitor printing experience into the railway setting. The exhibition invites you to arrange and press type; its visual identity is also made into a printing plate. Try arranging the letters, then watch what the press leaves on the paper.
