Hualien: wildflowers, coffee, then a table set for the valley

Why this order

This route started with the weeds. At Palette Café & Art, cincin chang made a small patch of grass large enough to get lost in. There was coffee to drink while you considered being very small. Then the route continued into town to see a different use for the landscape: ceramic and tin tableware that borrowed from the East Rift Valley, and tree bark made into lamps and folding screens.

1. Stop 1

   Palette Cafe & Art

   This route began at Palette Café & Art. During the September 17–20 window, allow an hour for immensely and a drink; the café closed at 5 p.m. and the exhibition ran through September 21. From Hualien Station’s west exit, the walk took about 20 minutes and included stairs; a taxi was easier with luggage.

2. Stop 2

   Hualien Cultural and Creative Industries Park

   The route then continued from Palette to the park, about 1.6 km away. During this dated pairing, allow 25 minutes on foot plus time to find Building 17; a taxi took roughly six minutes on the road, plus waiting time. Around 2:30 p.m., the route looked along 陶錫工藝’s long table, then at the rough edges of 黑色雋永’s bark lamps and the silt-based work in 逐光－復返 upstairs. Both exhibitions were free; Building 17 closed at 6 p.m.
